Mental health

The Sutton School Nursing team has produced two short, engaging videos to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people. Each video is tailored to a specific age group, helping children and adolescents understand stress and develop healthy coping strategies.

Primary-Aged Children

This video is designed for younger children and focuses on:

  • Recognising and naming emotions
  • Simple strategies to feel calm and safe
  • Encouraging kindness, play, and talking to trusted adults
  • Building healthy habits for body and mind

Adolescents (Teenagers)

This video is aimed at teenagers and includes:
  • A clear explanation of what stress is
  • How stress affects mental and physical health
  • Practical strategies for managing stress, such as mindfulness, exercise, and seeking support
  • Encouragement to talk openly about mental health

The School Nursing team are available Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) 9am–5pm and we can visit you at school, home, within a community setting or at a children’s centre.

Young people can access the drop-in at high school without an appointment; just ask in the school office for the day of the week and available times.
