Safer Sleep for Babies advice at St Nicholas Centre this March

Sutton’s Health Visiting Team will be at the St Nicholas Centre on Tuesday 12 March 2025, from 10.30am to 3pm, offering expert guidance on safer sleep for babies. The visit supports Safer Sleep Week (10–16 March), a national campaign led by The Lullaby Trust to raise awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and promote safe sleep practices for families.

Based outside Kiddistop in the St Nicholas Centre, the team will share practical information on creating a safe sleep environment. Topics covered will include why babies should be placed on their backs to sleep, the importance of a firm, flat surface, and how to keep sleep spaces free from soft bedding, pillows, and cushions.

The Health Visiting Team will also provide advice on managing safer sleep in situations where a cot or Moses basket may not be available, helping families feel confident in making safe choices wherever they are.

This evidence‑based guidance applies to every sleep, day and night, and has contributed to an 81% reduction in SIDS deaths over the past three decades.
